Project 53 is a legacy project by the Botswana African Youth Organising Committee (BAYGOC), the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Culture and the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) to engage different constituencies around Botswana in the 2014 Youth Africa Games.
Its main aim is to make use of the activities and opportunities portrayed by the games. It is also aimed at ensuring that young people around the country are involved through tree planting, clean up campaigns and the school twinning programme. The school twinning programme comprised of twinning 53 secondary schools from 53 constituencies with 53 countries participating in the games. The main aim is to generate cultural exchange between participating countries and the schools from the constituencies. Students have selected a particular country, researched on it and produced a presentation in the form of a drawing, painting or an essay.
