The Africa youth games being held at Gaborone 2014 seeks to unleash African stars and Boikanyo Selogetso, a member of the Botswana netball team is one to really look out for. The 18-year-old Boikanyo is a formidable force behind the Botswana netball team. Her height 5.6m also contributes to her scoring goals for her team with ease. She scored over 20 goals for her team during the preliminary stages of the competition.
Boikanyo again at the crucial time contributed to her team’s success scoring over 30 of such goals to enable her team beat Namibia 57 to 44 in a fiercely contested fixture. Boikanyo started playing netball at a very tender age from Therisanyo Primary school until 2009. Her love for netball did not end at her primary days as she continued to play the sport at both junior and senior secondary school. She joined the UB Crystals netball in 2012 under coach Abendico Chitelo where she is now representing her country at the Africa youth games.
Boikanyo hopes her love for netball will let her strive higher and represent Botswana at major events. Boikanyo believes the honour of representing her country alone is a big motivation for her. She said she was grateful for the home support when they play their games at the BONA courts.
